Bushmills sold

A week ago Diageo, the world's biggest spirit producer, completed the purchase of the Irish whiskey brand Bushmills from Pernod Ricard for almost 300m euro. Pernod Ricard sold the brand as a tactical deal in order to keep Diageo far away from the Allied Domecq takeover. Old Bushmills Distillery is the oldest licensed distillery in the world where the renowned Bushmills whiskey has been distilled legally since 1608 when King James I granted its license. Bushmills will join two other Irish brands, Guinness and Bailey's, in the Diageo portfolio giving an important presence for the company in the growing category of Irish whiskey.

Egy héttel ezelőtt a Diageo, a világ legnagyobb szeszipari vállalata, majdnem 300millió euróért megvásárolta a Bushmills ír whiskey márkát a Pernod Ricard francia szeszipari vállalattól. A Pernod Ricard taktikai céllal adta el a Bushmillst, ezzel is távol tartva egyik legnagyobb riválisát az Allied Domecq felvásárlásától. Az Old Bushmills Distillery a világ egyik legrégebben regisztrált lepárló üzeme, amely a lepárlás jogát még I. Jakab királytól kapta 1608-ban. A Bushmills így két másik világhíres ír italmárka, a Guinness és a Bailey's mellé kerül a Diageo portfóliójába, hozzásegítve ezzel a vállalatot az egyre növekvő ír whiskey piacon való megjelenéshez.
