New Master Blender of Ballantine's

Sandy Hyslop, the 5th Master Blender in the long and distinguished history of Ballantine's. With over 20 years of experience in the whisky industry. This news is coming from Chivas Brothers. They probably don't count George Ballantine and R.A. McKinlay as Master Blenders. The first was who established the brand and the business, the latter was who bought the company from the Ballantine family and made it international. Both were working as Master Blender as well, although, officially, they were owners and directors. So, according to Chivas Brothers, the 5 Master Blenders were/are James Horn, George Robertson, Jack Goudy, Robert Hicks and Sandy Hyslop. Robert Hicks has just retired recently. He was great. I met him couple of times in Scotland when visiting the Ballantine's plant in Kilmalid or the former grain distillery in Dumbarton. His presentations, enthusiasm and passion toward whisky-making was always very impressive and inspiring. A new age starts now:Good bye Mr. Hicks - Welcome Mr. Hyslop!

Volt szerencsém találkozni vele néhány alkalommal, amikor meglátogattuk a Ballantine's gyárat Kilmalidban vagy a régi gabona-lepárlót Dumbartonban. Előadásai, lelkesedése, whiskykészítés iránti szenvedélye mindig is lenyűgözött és ösztönzően hatott rám. Most azonban egy új időszak kezdődik: Viszlát Mr. Hicks - Üdv Mr. Hyslop!
